Since the original Scheme was introduced nearly 200 men and women have been awarded training bursaries, many gaining prominent positions and others already well-established in the freelance world. The new Artistic Director of the Royal Shakespeare Theatre, Michael Boyd, was a graduate of the Scheme as were his predecessors, Adrian Noble and Trevor Nunn. In addition 10 ex-trainees of the Scheme have become Artistic Directors, each running his/her own theatre.
